Marrying your soul mate is an important affair; what starts there does not stop after you get through a single wedding ceremony. The day itself is supposed to cover a series of well-organized events, in order to celebrate every moment in a life you will get to spend together as a couple. A lot of people throw multiple parties leading up to the big day, which are both fun-filled and fascinating. Organizing one of these is rarely an easy task, but that is what makes it so much fun. Below is a list of parties that are closely associated with a typical wedding.

Engagement Party

An engagement party is a celebration that usually lands within about three months of the engagement. This is held to celebrate the recent engagement of the couple, and also serves as a space for each of the wedding guests to get acquainted with new family. It is usually organized by the parents of either the groom or the bride. All closely related family members, along with some friends, are invited as a rule, but the guest list can be expanded based on preference. Traditionally, all guests who are invited to such a party would also be welcome to attend the wedding.

Bridal Shower

The bridal shower is usually celebrated on a date close to that of the wedding. Most of the times, there is gap of about two weeks between the two. It is an occasion where the guests shower the bride with symbolic gifts to help her set up a new future home. All family members and close friends of the bride-to-be would be invited for the bridal shower. This party is collectively hosted by close friends of the bride, because it would be rude for the bride’s family to ask for gifts from people they are close to.

Bachelorette Party and Bachelor Party

This type of party is normally hosted by the bridesmaid (for the bride) and the groomsmen (for the groom), and held a week before the wedding. People showing up at a bachelor party typically include all the male friends of the groom; the bride would invite all her female friends to her bachelorette party.

After-Wedding Party

Hosting an after wedding party is now all the rage among recently wedded couples these days. Such a party is conducted to stretch the celebration past the wedding. All guests from the latter would be invited to this event as well; however, you would usually see much younger crowds of the friends crowding the place here. Holding an after wedding party also helps you spend more time with friends, as well as get together with those that have traveled far to be with you.
